37 killed, 40 missing due to floods, land sliding in Vietnam

HANOI: As many as 37 people were killed and 40 others were missing because of floods and land sliding in northern and central Vietnam on Thursday.

A disaster department official told media that heavy rain in the country badly affected the people especially in the northern Hoa Binh province where 11 people were killed and 21 other were missing.

He added that rescue workers are trying to mobilizing all the forces to search the missing persons.

Vietnam Disaster Management Authority confirmed that a 37 people were killed and 40 were still missing because of heavy rain land sliding.

Vietnam has been hard hit by severe weather this year and nearly 170 people are dead or missing from natural disasters this year, which have caused $36 million of damage, as per the government figures.
