57 suspects indicted by ATC in Mashal Khan murder case

ABBOTTABAD: At least 57 arrested suspected in Mashal Khan murder case were indicted by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday and also rejected the bail applications of 17 accused in the case.

The ATC Judge, Justice Fazal Subhan rejected the bail applications of the accused after hearing the arguments of both sides and the Judge also ordered to shift the case of to Central Jail Haripur and the hearing of the case will now be taking place on daily basis.

Mashal Khan, a journalism student at Abdul Wali Khan University in Mardan, was murdered by a violent mob on April 13 and blamed him for blasphemy.

Later police arrested 57 accused and registered cases under sections 148-422-302-324-143 in Mahsal Khan murder case including Sajid Ali, Wajid Malang, Asif Ali, Waleed Ayub, Syed Wajid Ali, Mujeebullah, Sajjad Ali, Irfanullah, Nasrullah, Syed Abbas, Aziz Khan, Atif Munsif, Fazeelat Jan, Muhammad Asif Khan, Sahibzada Muhammad Sohaib, Anas Ali, Zeeshan Khan and others.

When the hearing of the case was started in Mardan, the Father of Mashal Khan Iqbal Khan and provincial government requested the court to move the case from Mardan to in view the law and order situation.

On July 27, Peshawar High Court (PHC) bench ordered to move the case to ATC Abbottabad and shifted the accused to Central Jail Haripur.
