Dialogue session for improving of RTI law held

PESHAWAR: A dialogue session was held on the Right to Information Act between government official and Journalists held here in a local hotel.

The aims of the dialogue were to find out the shortcoming in the RTI act and to more easy the law that the common public takes benefits from it.

The dialogue was attended by different government department Public Information Officer, Journalists as well as senior Journalist Rahim Ullah Yusufzai and Right to Information Commissioner Professor Iftikhar  Hussain was also present.

During the presentation of Iftikhar Hussain he informed that for the last three years when the law was passed in 2013 there were more than ten thousand applicant approach to the RTI for information.

He further said that around 6,646 applicant were provided information while still 635 application were with RTI which were in process, adding that AIG police officer and other information officer were fined not provided information in the past.

He added and accepted that were still short coming in the law and they were working on the short comings which were identified by the journalist and Public Information Officers.
