Accountability Court judgment challenged

ISLAMABAD: The guarantor of former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has filed a writ petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC) against the judgment of Accountability Court about confiscation of his property and surety bond.

The petitioner Ahmed Ali Qudosi has adopted that Ishaq Dar had been appearing before the court due to court’s prestige but the AC number 1 has illegally rejected his application seeking exemption before the court. Later, Ishaq Dar has appointed Rehan Bashir his Nazir.

“Despite appearing before the AC till Oct 23, 2017, the application filed by Ishaq Dar on medical ground has been rejected”, the petition added. In petition, Muhammad Bashir Khan, Judge AC number 1, Chairman NAB Justice (Retd) Javed Iqbal has been made parties. The petition added that applicant (Ishaq Dar) on September 27, 2017 had submitted surety bond worth Rs 5 million. After this, the applicant has left for Tajikistan with official delegation and later Saudi Arabia to perform Umera adding that former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is under treatment in London. The AC number 1 has rejected all his applications and ordered to confiscate the money and property of guarantor on Dec 14 which is illegal. The petitioner has requested the IHC to declare the judgment of AC null and void.
