Action against hotel owners taken for unhygienic condition

PESHAWAR: Because of the poor unhygienic condition of several hotels, the district administration on Monday carried out crackdown against the restaurants at Ring Road Peshawar and held few owners among them.

On the complaints of locals, the deputy commissioner Islam Zeb directed relevant officials for initiating crackdown against owners of hotels for overcharging people and poor cleanliness condition, an official of district administration said while issuing a news statement. The raiding team consisting of additional deputy commissioner Shahid Ali Khan, additional assistant commissioner Irfan Ali and other officials initiated action against owners of various hotels on Ring Road.

Officials checked all the hotels and fast food centers and finds some owners were involved in overpricing and poor unhygienic condition. However, during crackdown, several persons including the owners of Zam Zam, Hujra, Khyber, Anar Gul, Namkeen, University and other hotels were taken into custody.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan while sharing details said that action was taken on direction of deputy commissioner against those owners of hotels who were involved in overcharging and cleanliness condition. He warned that hotel owners should avoid violating rules and regulations otherwise they will face the music.

He made it clear that action against the detained owners will be taken in light of law and would be punished for their acts.

Similarly, the officials of administration in another operation raided against nanbais and other shopkeepers on Ring Road and detained few among them for violation of rules and regulations.
