WASHINGTON: United States Defense Secretary, James Mattis has said US will try one more time to work with Pakistan in a fight against terrorism.

Mattis said this at a House Armed Services Committee Hearing on Tuesday.  He said that US need to try one more time to make the strategy possible for Afghanistan and adding that if the effort fails then President Trump is ready to take necessary steps.

The Pakistan and US relationship has been up and high in the last 16 years but it was getting more tense after Trump’s speech announcing new policy for Afghanistan and South and also leveling allegations against Pakistan.

Pakistan rejected all the allegations regarding safe heavens to terrorists and claimed it launched operations to clear militants groups from the tribal areas of Pakistan.

Assistant secretaries and national security staff will soon visit Pakistan to discuss the matter and himself and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif has arrived in the United States of America on a three-day important visit, where he will hold meetings with his US counterpart Rex Tillerson and other officials to discuss bilateral relation of both the countries.
