Another female cardiologist resigns over harassment in LRH

PESHAWAR: Another female cardiologist in Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar resigned after alleging that the senior doctor including head of the department of Cardiology was continuously harassing her.

Dr. Lubna Noor working in LRH since 2011 as assistant professor in Cardiology Department of the hospital claimed that she was first cardiologist of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

She wrote her complaints of harassment to Human Rights Cell and also shared the same with media. The copy of her complains is also with The Frontier Post.

She wrote in her complaints that from 2011 when she was appointed as Junior registrar Dr. Adnan Gul allegedly did not want her to be appointed on the said post however after she was selected by the selection committee the behaviour of Dr. Adnan Gul became more harsh and unacceptable.

She further complained that with the help of two other doctors in Cardiology Ward of LRH Dr. Adnan Gul always criticized her and even ‘tried his best to disturb my relationship with my husband but he was not successful,’ Dr Noor added.

She also wrote her complaint to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, and further said that if such behavior of senior doctors with female and harassment continued then how would a female doctor would perform duty and what would be its effects on junior doctors.

She further said that she was the first one to raise her voice against the senior doctor, adding that in male dominant society if a qualified female doctor was harassed by senior doctors then what will be the situation of junior female doctors in different hospital of KP.

Dr. Adnan Gul Head of the Cardiology Department  at LRH rejected all the allegations levelled against him by Dr. Lubna Noor and said that she (Dr. Lubna) was involved in corruption case and was arrested red handed that’s why she resigned.

He further said that he has never harrassed Dr. Lubna nor his behaviour towards the female doctor was harsh rather, he adde, he always had a friendly attitude with his colleagues.

It merit mention here that after the working of a fake doctor in Hayatabad Medical Complex Peshawar another case of fake nurses appointment was also reported in Surgical Ward and Medical A ward of the hospital as complaints was received by the administration of the hospital but no action was taken so far.

In Lady Reading Hospital Peshawar many charge nurses and male nurses were doing their duties whom degree were not recognized from Pakistan Nursing Council.
