APC gives deadline for arrest of Asma killer

MARDAN: All Parties Conference (Mardan Chapter) gave January 26 as deadline to provincial government of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf and police high-ups to arrest the real culprits who murdered a four-year old baby girl after assault in Gujar Gari area on last Saturday evening.

The district government Mardan organized an all parties conference regarding the killing and rap incident of minor girl named Asma. District Nazim Himayatullah president over the all parties conference.

The political parties which attended the APC meeting were included Awami National Party, Pakistan People Party, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazal, Jamaat-i-Islami, Quami Watan Party and political parties.

On the occasion, district nazim Himayatullah Mayar advocate announced Rs.0.5 million for the ill-fated family of slain Asma as compensation money. Besides, he also assured that the district government would not only provide legal assistance to the affected family but would also bear all kind of expenses in the connection. Himayatlullah Mayar advocate called meeting of district council Mardan to debate on the issue of minor victim Asma and to take necessary steps in this regard.

At the meeting, political leaders demanded of the relevant authorities to include sections of sexual assault and terrorism in the FIR of murder of baby girl. A joint statement issued after the APC meeting, stated that the government should financial assist family of the victim. It also stated that all types of hurdles should be removed in way of interrogation system of police.

Participants of the meeting demanded that the real perpetrators involved should be publicly hanged so that such type of inhuman incident could be stopped in the future. The APC meeting had called a grant-jirga on January 27 at the district secretariat building if police officials failed to arrest the real accused by January 26 in order to devise next line action in this connection.

Also in the day, Jamaat-i-Islami Ameer senator Siraj-ul-Haq visited house of the minor victim in Gujar Gari area to offer fateha and to express solidarity and sympathies with her family members. Speaking on the occasion, the JI chief held the incident as a national tragedy. He lamented that police officials had failed so far to arrest the real perpetrators of the incident despite of having modern technology. He stressed that it was their collective responsibility to take steps for stoppage of such un-Islamic and inhuman acts. He also said that imparting of general education and information to their generation, reformative and moral education were much needed. The JI chief asked the rulers that they should admit their failure if they could not protect lives and dignity of citizens.
