9th Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally from Feb 14

LAHORE:(Online): The 9th Cholistan Desert Jeep Rally 2014 will be held at Derawar Fort, district Bahawalpur from February 14 to 16. More than 100 jeep drivers have so far got registered for participation in this rally being organized by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab.
This was revealed by the Punjab Tourism Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan while talking to pressmen in Punjab Tourism Complex, here Sunday. Describing the rally features, the Minister informed that Cholistan jeep rally will provide the domestic as well as foreign tourists an excellent platform to see closely one of the richest culture along with sensational and thrilling desert jeep contest.
The tourists will get a brilliant opportunity to observe the city of Nawabs, unique palaces and museum at Bahawalpur besides seeing gigantic picturesque Cholistan desert, historic Derawar Fort, the mosque built on the exact lines of the Moti Masjid in the Red Fort of Dehli and will get a glimpse of the Royal Graveyard adorned with exquisite blue tiles, the Minister added.
The TDCP has introduced a special tour package from February 14 to 16 for the tourists from Lahore to Derawar Fort to witnessed the Jeep Rally. The package include return tickets for travelling in luxurious buses, dinner at Noor Mehal Bahawalpur, visit of Bahawalpur Museum, Sadiq Garh Palace and cultural night/ fire works at Derawar with night stay at camps.
The package also includes camel safari, visit of historic mosques and historic graveyard at Derawar besides seeing the inaugural of Jeep Rally. Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan termed the Cholistan desert jeep rally the biggest motor sports event in Pakistan which would enhance the soft image of Pakistan world over.
He announced that the Punjab government will establish theme parks at Rohtas, Kalar Kahar, Fort Manro, Harrapa and Lahore. Managing Director TDCP Syed Habib ur Rehman Gillani and Chairperson Special Parliamentary Committee on Tourism Ms Tahia Noon were also present on the occasion.
