PESHAWAR : Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani said on Monday that KP Police was performing miracles in extremely difficult situation facing the province today, saying he has never seen such a brave and valiant force like the KP Police throughout his life.
Its jawans embraced certain martyrdom in the line of duty and it was an honor for him (IGP) that he was commanding such a brave force.
\"Yeh Sabiron aur Shakiron ke force hay, jis ka jawan mushkil halat main jan hatailee par rak kar moujizey dikah rahain hain\".

The KP police leading in offering extraordinary sacrifices and showing matchless gallant in war against terror, but ironically the salaries and other privileges of the force, were less than the police of other provinces. However the present KP government has increased the salaries, other perks and privileges of the force thus restoring the self respect of the force. The IGP had also underscored the need for bringing equality in the salaries and privileges of the forces among all the four pro0vinces.
The IGP while narrating the events of bravery and determination demonstrated by the police jawans and brought into his notice during his surprise visits to various police stations in the province, paid rich tributes to them for their devotion to duty. He quoted number of instances wherein the police jawans refused to be posted out from the place where there was severe threat to their lives.
He said in the last four months, the KP police track down 129 cases of terrorism and arrested 144 terrorists. Similarly 57 attacks were made on the police force during this period which were repulsed successfully and defused 282 explosive devices.

The recruitment and promotions in the police will be made through ETEA and NTS to ensure transparency and merit. Various measures have been taken to bring transparency in procurement process in the police department and representatives of other departments have also been involved in it, he added.
The BDS unit of the force was being strengthened and it would be extended to all the districts of the province, he said adding, in every district the BDS will consist of thirteen members. As many 27 sniffer dogs have been bought for the force while by end of June this year, the number of sniffer dogs would be fifty.
In all 2200 jawans would be recruited in the recently constituted Counter Terrorism Department CTD), he said adding initially CTD would be setup in Peshawar and later it will be introduced at divisional headquarters
