Avenfield case: NAB court summoned Wajid Zia along with original JIT report on Feb22

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court hearing corruption references against former premier Nawaz Sharif and family, has summoned Additional Director, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Wajid Zia, also head of the Panama Papers case joint investigation team (JIT), to appear before the court in Avenfield properties reference against members of Sharif family.

The accountability court also directed Wajid Zia to appear on February 22 before the court on February 22 along with the original record in the case.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law, Captain (retd) Safdar have also been directed to attend the upcoming hearing.

NAB court likely to record statements of two witnesses including UK-based Quist Solicitors, Akhtar Raja, and principal at the Radley Forensic Document Laboratory, Robert W. Radley  via video link.

The disqualified prime minister Nawaz Sharif and his family face three corruption references related to the Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metals Establishment, Avenfield properties, and over a dozen offshore companies, including Flagship Investment Ltd.

The references were filed by the NAB in the light of the Panama Papers case verdict by the Supreme Court in which former premier was disqualified for not being honest.
