Chinese envoy calls on Mushahid

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jing paid a courtesy call on Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed, Chairman Parliamentary Committee on CPEC, at the Parliament House here on Monday.

Mushahid Hussain warmly welcomed Mr. Yao Jing to the Parliament and praised his commitment and strong affiliation with Pakistan.

He noted that Ambassador Yao Jing is an old friend of Pakistan, as he already served here as Chinese diplomat in the past”.

He expressed the hope that during his tenure, Pakistan China relations will be further consolidated and CPEC will make more rapid progress in their relationships.

Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing termed Senator Mushahid Hussain as “an old friend of China” and thanked him for his contribution to Pakistan China relations, especially in the building of CPEC.

Yao Jing hoped that in 2018 CPEC will enter a ‘new era’ of diplomatic relations between the both countries and expansion of CPEC to include Afghanistan and Central Asia.

Senator Mushahid Hussain said that CPEC is a connectivity plan, not just between Pakistan and China but also between countries of the region including Afghanistan and Central Asia.

He invited Ambassador Yao Jing to have a meeting with the Parliamentary Committee on CPEC.

Mushahid Hussain also presented the report of the Parliamentary Committee on CPEC to the Ambassador.
