Dar avoiding execution of warrant deliberately: Court

ISLAMABAD: An accountability court on Tuesday issued a written order to declare Senator Ishaq Dar a proclaimed offender.

The order states that: “…applications submitted for exemption from personal appearance stand dismissed. Accused has absconded in the case, and is avoiding execution of warrant deliberately.”

“There is no likelihood of his arrest in near future. He is declared as absconder/proclaimed offender.”

The order further says that the Dar’s bail guarantor, Ahmed Ali Quddusi, forfeited the surety bond, was unable to produce the acc-used and was unable to show a sufficient cause for not being able to pay the penalty.

“Mr Ahmed Ali Quddusi stood surety through a bond in the sum of Rs 50,00,000/-. The bond has also been forfeited vide detailed order dated 21.11.2017 wherein grounds/ reasons are mentioned for the same.”

“He remains failed to produce the accused. He could not show sufficient cause why [the] penalty should not be paid, as the accused Muhammad Ishaq Dar has not been appearing before the court.

However, counsel for surety has inter-alia contended that he stood surety out of benevolence and accused is beyond his reach.”

“There is no likelihood of his arrest in near future. He is declared as absconder/proclaimed offender.”

The accountability court hearing a corruption reference against Dar had declared him a proclaimed offender due to his continued absence from court proceedings during the case’s hearing on Monday.
