Dar to be indicted on Sept 27 as he appears in accountability court

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar appeared before the Islamabad Accountability Court on Monday to face the corruption reference against him.

Accountability Court Judge, Muhammad Bashir directed the NAB officials to provide a copy of the case related documents to Ishaq Dar and set the 27 September next date for the hearing of the case in which Ishaq Dar will be indicted by the court. Ishaq Dar was also directed to submit the surety bond of worth Rs 1 million.

The court denied the Dar’s counsel request of granting one week for reading the document and preparing for arguments in the case, the judge said this they have only six months for the case and if he had required one week for reading of documents than how will they finish the case in the stipulated time.

In the last hearing of the case, the court had issued warrants for Dar’s arrest as he failed to appear in court to face charges of having assets beyond his apparent income sources.

On the direction of Supreme Court, the NAB filed corruption reference against the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.

Dar returned to the country last night from London along with Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.
