DC expels 4 polio workers from district

KOHAT: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohat, Khalid Ilyas Wednesday expelled four employees of health and education department for showing criminal negligence in anti-polio duty.

The expelled government employees were included two teacher’s i.e Zar Mohammad and Miss Humaira of the education department and EPI technician Irfan Danish and medical technician Subhan.

The Deputy Commissioner has warned that polio eradication campaign is a national cause and ruled out any kind of compromise on it, saying the fate of anyone found negligence in this regard would be worst than them.

He said that polio is crippling and deadly disease, whose eradication requires durable efforts. He said that protecting the new generation from disabling is the national duty of all. Therefore, he said that the role of parents in this regard is highly crucial and urged them to extend full cooperation to polio teams and administer polio drops to all children below the age of five years.

Khalid Ilyas said that during the recent years no polio case is reported in Kohat and refusal cases in Kohat are less than other districts of the province. He stressed need for joint efforts to make the war against polio a success.
