Disgruntled PTI activists in Maidan join PPP

TIMERGARA:  Disappointed of the Pakistan Tehrek Insaf policies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and its leg pulling politics in Dir, several activists in Bishgram Maidan here on Saturday announced to quit the party and join the Pakistan People Party.

A function in this regard was held at the residence of one Muhammad Hazrat in Takht Bihgram village during which the PTI activists including Muhammad Hazrat, Dawa Khan, Samiullah, Ihsanullah, Inam Khan, Ismail Khan and others announced to join the PPP along with their families and friends.

The PPP Malakand divisional vice president and former MPA Muhammad Zamin Khan while addressing the function said both the PTI and Jamaat-i-Islami had badly failed to fulfil their pledges and implement their election manifestoes. He said the people had voted to the PTI for its call claim of bringing changes in politics.

The PPP former lawmaker said there had been no development project in his PK 96 constituency in Maidan. “The KP government should have announced special development package for Maidan as it was the worst affected area of militancy in the near past,” Muhammad Zamin said, adding the majority of people in Maidan voted to the PTI candidates in general election 2013 and LG election 2015.

He said now the PTI voters were disappointed and they were joining other parties including the PPP. He promised to ensure gas supply to Bishgram area of Maidan if he was elected as MPA in 2018 general election. He said the previous government had initiated several development projects in his PK-96 constituency on which the JI lawmaker from the area had been fixing his own sign boards.

The PPP leader said his party would win majority of seats in Dir in next election and would form coalition government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The PTI disgruntled workers Muhammad Hazrat and Dawa Khan while speaking on the occasion alleged that the PTI leadership in the province had been following failed policies. They said the claims of changes in police, education and health were mere media hype and there was nothing on the ground. They said that they would convince other PTI workers soon to join the PPP.

Also in the day the PPP Lower Dir chapter inaugurated its party office at Chakdara where former provincial minister Mehmood Zeb Khan was chief guest on the occasion. The function in this regard was attended by PPP Lower dir general secretary Ashfaq ur Rehman, information secretary Alam Zeb, former minister of state Malik Azmat Khan, Khurshid Ali Khan, Qaisar Ali Khan, Bakhtiar Khan and others.

The PPP leaders on the occasion pledged to end internal differences and contest the next elections united so that it could gain its past glory in the area. s

DPO Kul-i-Katcheri: The Lower Dir police department arranged an open ‘kutcheri’ at the Zaimdara Maidan police station the other day which was attended by local government representatives and area elders. The district police officer Nowsher Khan chaired the event which was also attended by DSP circle Sher Wali Khan, Lower Dir traffic in-charge Shad Muhammad, SHO Zaimdara Wazir Zada and other police officials.

Speaking on the occasion local government representatives from the area, nazim Haidar Ali, councillor Arshad Ali, councillor Ahmad Shah, village chairman Subhanullah and area elders demanded role of dispute resolution council (DRC) in resolving a decades’ old dispute of hilly area, deployment of traffic police at Ziamdara bazaar, permission of bringing fuel wood from nearby forest and police beats at night.

The DPO directed police officers on the spot to take practical steps regarding the demands. He said that it was the sole responsibility of police and civil administration to maintain peace and order in society. The DPO said that police needed public support for fulfilling that duty. He asked local elders and political activists to cooperate with police department in curbing lawlessness and ending crimes. He said there would be no compromise on challenging government writ and disturbing peace in the area.
