CHARSADDA: The Dispute Resolution Council (DRC) in the district Charsadda have resolved as many as 962 disputes of different natures while eight cases referred for legal action in the last three years.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Zahoor Afridi said that DRC is a reformed shape of Jirga, and it has been doing an excellent job in resolving disputes and bringing end to enmity, it has also reduced burden of police department and we will further improve their capacity. SSP Afridi added that the district DRC’s received a total of 1074 complaints, which shows the trust of people on these bodies.
He further that they mull for DRC awareness campaigning with the help of local community about these bodies, he directed to the policemen to respect the general public and resolve their issues. The community member acts as a jury, chosen from the civil society, they voluntarily to hear the dispute parties in the present of two assistant officials from the police department including retired lawyers, a women member hearing the women disputes of family nature. The PRO of police, Safi Jan responded to a question that, how people would apply for submitting the case? The applicant or defendants needs to submit a application on a plane paper to DPO or concern DRC and it is free of cost.
Meanwhile, Independent Monitoring Unit (IMU), suddenly raided on Tehsil Head Quarter Shabqadar where no basic facilities were provided to the patients at all. IMU report said that powerful generators are available at the hospital but these were lying nonfunctional. They alleged that the management was misappropriating the funds allocated for fuel of generators.
Sources said there are lots of lack of even basic items like bandages, gloves and sterilizers, which are usually used in providing first aid to patients. They added that the hospital also lacked facilities for carrying out tests for various diseases. IMU reports stated that the hospital house is occupied by outsiders while DHO has not visited in previous four months.
