Drive against power theft held: Pesco

PESHAWAR: Chief Executive Peshawar Electric Power Supply (PESCO) Engineer Zakaullah Khan Gandapur said Monday that drive had been accelerated against illegal use of electricity in the province.

In this regard, he said Pesco Mardan-1 Division teams along with Pesco police, checked various premises in the jurisdiction of MardanCantt, Toru, Gujar Ghari sub divisions and nabbed six more persons including Wahid Shha, Nasar, Naveed, Amin, munsif shah and Habib on the spot using direct connections.

Chief Executive Pesco has directed all the field formations to speed up drive against illegal use of electricity and direct hooks.

He said PESCO had once again warned to stop power pilferage in the larger interest of the nation, due to which PESCO had to face financial losses on one hand and on the other hand PESCO’s whole distribution system gets over loaded.

As a result, the general public faces inconvenience of frequent power break downs, he added.

Meanwhile, PESCO had advised customers to adopt all precautionary measures during winter rains and not to touch  cables and poles.

It said public must adopt all safety measures which include, to properly “earthen” your electrical appliances and replace or tape all worn out wires and not to touch electrical appliances, cables with wet hands.

Public is also requested to be careful and attentive while using Electric Water Pumps and other Electrical appliances. Public is requested not to tie their pets and cattles with the poles and towers.

it is advised to avoid usage of metal wires for drying clothes and not to touch the washing machine with wet hands without switching it off.

It advised to keep a mate under your foot while pressing the clothes, adding report the concerned PESCO offices in case of any damaged cable or damaged pole immediately.
