Government wants to resolve Islamabad sit-in peacefully: Ahsan Iqbal

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister, Ahsan Iqbal has said that government wants to resolve the issue of Faizabad sit-in protest peacefully and once again appealed to the protestors to end their protest peacefully.

This he said after appearing before the Islamabad High Court for non-implementation of the court’s order to clear the Faizabad sit-in on Monday.  He added that the government didn’t want any action or violence against the protestors despite that we have all kinds of power against them but it is our wish to end the protest peacefully in the larger interest.

He added that there are some elements who wants bloodshed and create havoc in the country on the blood of innocent people but we will not allow them to take advantage from it.

Government didn’t want a Model Town or Lal Masjid like incident once again, he added.

Iqbal added that the Khatam-e-Nabbuwat laws are stronger than before and those who spreading news of changing it are not correct as it is part of our faith and no one can change it.

Iqbal was hopeful that the issue will be resolved in next two days and adding that we will try our level best to solve the issue peacefully.

Earlier, Islamabad High Court summoned Interior minister Ahsan Iqbal for not implementing the court orders regarding clearing the roads and ends the sit-in protest at Faizabad.

In the beginning of the hearing, Justice Siddiqui showed displeasure and asked the minister why the court orders were implemented.

In reply, Ahsan Iqbal taken responsibility of the failure because government wants to end the protest peacefully rather to use force on them, the minister demanded more time from the court.

Justice Siddiqui adjourned the hearing till Thursday and the court also issued show-cause notices for contempt of court to the interior secretary, Chief Commissioner and Inspector General of Islamabad.
