Janjua leads Pakistan delegation for Afghan talks

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary, Tehmina Janjua is leading the Pakistan delegation to participate in the four nations talks on Afghanistan that began in Oman, Muscat here on Monday.

The four nations including Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and US will try to revive talks with the Taliban and solve the conflict among the groups through negotiations and maintain peace in the region.

After the death of Taliban Chief Mullah Akhtar Mansoor in US drone strike in Balochistan in May 2016, this is the first meeting of these four nations. The first meeting of Quadrilateral Coordination Group (QCG) was held on 11 January 2016 with the aim to revive the Afghan peace process.

Earlier, Foreign Minister while on a visit, he told American media that he is very optimistic about the QCG meeting and adding that the meeting will be fruitful, it will brings peace in the Afghanistan and in the region.
