JIT formed to investigate Intizar murder case

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on the request of Ishtiaq Ahmed, the father of Intizar Ahmed who was killed in an incident of firing on January 13, 2018 at Sea view constituted a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to investigate and interrogate the murder case.

Mr Ishtiaq Ahmed along with his lawyer and brother went to CM House at Gate No. 2 with the request to meet with Sindh Chief Minister. The security staff members told Mr Ishtaiq Ahmed that the chief minister was out of office and without his appointment he could not meet him. He stayed there for few minutes when the chief minister was informed on telephone about Mr Ishtiaq’s urgent meeting request. The chief minister directed the staff to sit Mr Ishtaiq in his chamber.

The chief minister came and met him there and on his request the chief minister Home Secretary Qazi Shahid Pervez to constitute a Joint Investigation Team under Additional IG CTD and issue notification within an hour.

The Home Secretary vide notification No.(LE-I)HD/08-04/2018(JIT) constituted a six-member committee headed by Adl IG CTD Sanaullah Abbasi. The other members are DIG South, ISI representative (not below the rank of Major), IG Representative (of equivalent rank of SP), Pakistan Rangers (Gazetted officer), Special branch (equivalent rank of SP) and a representative of M.I (not below than the rank of major).

The notification says the JIT shall investigate/interrogate the matter within 15 days and submit the report to Home department for necessary action.

Intezar Ahmed, 19, was killed after the police’s Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) officials opened fire on his vehicle on Khayaban-e-Ittehad, DHA on January 13.

Father of the murdered youth Ishtiaq Ahmed met the Sindh chief minister earlier Monday who ordered a notification about the JIT to be issued within an hour.
