KTH marks one year anniversary of IBP practice

PESHAWAR: Medical Teaching Institute Khyber Teaching Hospital (MTI KTH) celebrated one year anniversary of Institutional Based Practice and shared its one year performance report.

Secretary Health Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Abid Majeed who was chief guest on the occasion appreciated the services rendered by the faculty and management of MTI KTH. He exclusively invited a team of MTI KTH to meet the team of health department to discuss the IBP incentive and allowance as per MTI Act 2015 for consultants and then he will forward the summary to the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for approval.

Chairman IBP Assistant Prof Pediatrics Dr Abdul Khaliq, Assistant Prof Medicine Dr Hamza Ali Khan and  Khyber Medical University Dean Prof Dr Noor-ul-Iman, Dr Nekdad Khan and KTH Medical Director Prof Dr Rooh-ul-Muqim spoke on the occasion and requested the Health Secretary for IBP allowance as per MTI Act 2015 for consultants practice in IBP. Medical Director Prof Dr Rooh-ul-Muqim said in future they will have a mother and child care department in IBP too.

A total of 24,107 patients were facilitated through IBP KTH and 3,003 different surgeries were carried out till date. However, 2,043 surgeries were carried out under Sehat Sahulat Card. IBP generated Rs 29,84,098 net profit to the hospital whereas Rs3349153 income tax is given to the government. IBP Pharmacy gross profit Rs 2580650, average daily sale Rs 126,403, average daily profit Rs 24,060, average daily discount given to patients is Rs 27,632.

Long awaited institutional based practice was initiated in MTI KTH on 16th February 2017 and inaugurated by the members of board of governors Dr Shahjahan and Ms Shahana Zubair upon advice of BoG Chairman Dr Faisal Sultan. After the promulgation of MTI Act 2015, it was compulsory for every institutional employee to practice institutional based practice in its respective hospital.

The reason of starting IBP was to provide quality and specialized treatment to the public on subsided rates under one roof. The main objective of IBP is to strengthen the institution financially and for the provision of specialized patient care, increasing the specialized services 7 to 14 hours, a press release issued by KTH MTI official said.

The release said a large number of renowned professors and consultants of the province are practicing in MTI KTH at a reasonable cost of Rs 600 fee for all the consultants across the board. KTH is offering these services on subsided rates from the market and same is the case for other procedures including major operations and minor surgeries, it added.

Special Information Desks and Complaint Cell is introduced to facilitate the patients. Guide men are assigned to provide information and help to the patients and their families. Special porter service is available to facilitate the patients.

Majority of the deaths during surgeries in private clinics and centers are because of the non qualified anesthetics staff whereas in MTI KTH competent professors of anesthesia department are available in the IBP.

A committee has been formed to handle matters regarding IBP who’s chairman is Assistant Prof Pediatrics Dr Abdul Khaliq, and other members are Prof Anesthesia Dept Dr Nighat Aziz, Associate Prof Surgery Dr Atta Ullah Khan, Assistant Prof Medical ICU Dr Muhammad Haroon, Director Pathology Dr Muhammad Asghar, Assistant Prof Medicine Dr Hamza Ali Khan, Manager IBP Kashif and others who are working for the betterment of the patient care.

MTI KTH has started IBP Pharmacy and the medicine is available on subsidized rate from the market. Establishment of IBP Pharmacy was a real challenge but with the help of IBP Team it was made possible.
