LeJ terrorist involved in murder of Punjab minister killed in Karachi

KARACHI: Karachi Police has claimed that terrorist killed in encounter on Wednesday night turned out to be a facilitator in murder of Punjab Home Minister, Shuja Khanzada.

On Wednesday night police raided a place near Khowaja Ajmeer Nagri area of the metropolis where police killed a terrorist in shootout, two others fled.

According to SSP Irfan Baloch, the terrorist was killed near W22 Bus Stop in North Karachi whereas two of his accomplices managed to escape.

As the terrorists saw the police approaching their hideout, they opened indiscriminate fire with the intention to kill. The security forces retaliated and ended up killing Saad Khan while two other LeJ terrorists — Ameer Molvi Younis and Dr Rehan — managed to flee the scene in the cover of the night, according to police statement.

Police said Saad Khan, who hails from Haripur in Khyber Pakhunkhwa, was currently living Defence Housing Authority affluent locality of the city.

“The terrorist had been closely working with proscribed Punjabi Taliban, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and several other organizations,” said police source.

Khan had prepared suicide jacket for attacker who killed Punjab Home Minister Colonel (R) Shuja Khanzada. The terrorist had also been involved in murder of police personnel killed in the session court of Haripur.

According to the press release, Khan was also involved in various terrorist activities, including the 2009 killing of a police officer in the Ibrahim Haidri area, the 2012 killings of various policemen in Lyari and other terrorist activities between 2012 and 2015.

The police recovered two hand grenades, six TT pistols, one 7mm rifle, one ‘China rifle’, seven 7mm magazines, three walkie talkie sets and 500 SMG bullets during the operation.
