TIMERGARA: The Lower dir district council on Monday demanded of the government to lift ban on stone crushing plants, arrest killers of seven years old Zaid and withdraw the FIR against a district councilors Alam Zeb for leading a protest against doctors of the Timergara hospital.
The council session was held with its convener Abdul Rashid Khan in the chair. Speaking on point of orders, leader of the opposition Malik Muhammad Zeb Khan, Wasil Khan, Taza Khan, Inayatullah and others condemned the Lower Dir police for their failure to arrest killers of Zaid, a seven years old child of Kadh village whose decomposed body was recovered after more than two months.
The councilors termed the incident as barbarism and inhuman. They demanded of the IGP to initiate an inquiry of the incident and arrest the killers. The district councilors also observed a walk out against the registration of an FIR against their colleague Alam Zeb of the PPP for leading a protesting mob against the doctors of Timergara hospital for alleged negligence in duty. They demanded of the Lower dir police to immediately withdraw the FIR against the district councilor.
The councilors also demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to lift the ban on stone crushing plants. They said that hundreds of daily wagers had been turned jobless. The Munda and Chakdara councilors pointed out that ultrasound machines in their hospitals were nonfunctional for three months due to which patients were being forced to visit Timergara. They demanded of the health department to take notice of the matter.
Also in the day the doctors and paramedical associations ended their strike at the DHQ hospital Timergara here on Monday. The announcement was made during a meeting of the associations held in the hospital with Dr Nadar Khan in the chair. The meeting was informed that an FIR had been registered against the PPP district councilor Alam Zeb for harassing and insulting doctors. The associations’ leaders said their demand had been accepted and there was no need of duty boycott. The meeting announced to end the boycott.
