KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader MNA Ali Raza Abidi said on Wednesday that he was leaving his party and also quitting his NA-251 seat, minutes after the MQM-P announced an alliance with the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).
Displeased with the MQM-P’s decision, he tweeted that this was not was he believed in and stood for:
MQM-P and PSP leader Farooq Sattar and Mustafa Kamal announced that they were joining hands for the greater good of Karachi and prevent the city’s vote bank from splitting.
The two parties decided to participate in the next elections with a joint manifesto, symbol and name.
“We have decided to form a political alliance because these testing times require us to do so,”MQM-P chief Farooq Sattar said at the press conference.
Kamal said Altaf Hussain would remain the chief of Muttahida Qaumi Movement so the alliance would come up with a new name.
