Opposition rejects amendments in Articles 62, 63

LAHORE: Opposition parties refused to amend the Articles 62 and 63 of the constitution to benefit on person.  Those who rejected the amendment including Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Awami Muslim League, JUI-F and Jamaat-i-Islami.

PML-N ruling party earlier announced that the bill be introduce for the constitutional amendment in Articles 62 and 63 and it added that in the said amendments duration of disqualification was not mention in it.

Law Minister Zahdi Hamid said that government wants that the disqualification duration needs to below five years.

Khursheed Shah told media that PML-N trying to rescue the disqualified PM Nawaz Sharif and he doubts its intentions.

However, Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilor said that ANP will not support any such amendments in Constitution for the sake of one person.

Both the ANP and PPP were known for their stance against the dictator included articles 62 and 63 in the constitutions but now they also refused to amend the constitutions and termed it that it was attempt to save one person, it increases the difficulties of PML-N in this regard.
