Police claim to arrest alleged LeJ killers ahead of Moharam

KARACHI: Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two alleged terrorists, associated with proscribed Sectarian outfit, Lashkar-e-Jhganvi (LeJ), from Liaquatabad area of the Pakistan’s port city of Karachi.

“In recent past continuous increase was witnessed in killing on the basis of ethnicity and sect in Karachi whereas we had also got information that proscribed Jihadi, Sectarian and terrorist groups were going to target people of opponent sect during the upcoming Moharam,” told Naved Ahmed Khowaja, Senior Superintendent of Police, Investigations CTD.

According to Khowaja he formed a team under Chaudhry Ghulam Safdar, In-Charge CTD, on September 18, 2017, which raided a place near Quba Mosque in Bandhani colony in Liaquatabad neighborhood and arrested two dangerous target killers of LeJ.

According to police the target killers were identified as Muhammad Abdullah s/o Majid Jameel and Adnan Ahmed S/o Haider Ali. Police also recovered three 9MM pistol, 15 bullets and Motorcycle from the possession of killers, Khowaja informed.

“The terrorists have confessed to several acts of target killing during interrogations,” Khowaja told The Frontier Post, adding the accused had planned to target people of opponent sect during Moharam.

Further interrogations are underway, Khowaja further informed.
