Police constable shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: A police constable was shot dead in an attack near North Nazimabad’s Landi Kotal Chowrangi on early Friday morning.

SSP Rizwan Baloch told private news channel that two unidentified men riding a motorcycle, with their helmets on opened fire on police constable as Shakir Ahmad as he was on the way to begin his shift at the Gulberg Police Station.

He added that two 9mm shells have been recovered from the scene of the crime.

The incident marks the year’s first targeted attack against police in the city, and follows a deadly year of attacks against policemen in the metropolis, in which over a dozen officials were killed in the line of duty.
