PPP lawmaker booked in case of manhandling Army personnel

KARACHI: Police have booked a member Sindh Assembly of the ruling Pakistan Peoples Party in case of manhandling and threatening Pakistan Army personnel escorting family of the corps commander Karachi on Saturday night, it emerged on Tuesday.

According to First Information Report (FIR), a copy of which is available to The Frontier Post, Manzoor, Jehangir, Moon, Asad and sixteen others on the behest of Tariq Masood Arain tortured army personnel, threatened to kill them and snatched official weapons besides interfering in official matter.

Tariq Masood Arain, a landlord from Sindh, was elected as member of Sindh Assembly from PS-24 Nawabshah-1 and is member of the house committee. Police have registered a case under section 324/34, 337/11(2), 147, 148, 149 and 186 of the Pakistan penal code against PPP MPA Tariq Masood Arian, Manzoor, Jehangir, Moon, Asad and 15 to 17 other accomplices.

According to details the complainant, Hawaldar Fahimullah Jan submitted that he is servant of the Pakistan Army and was, along with sepoy Arif, Ali Jan and driver Muhammad Altaf, escorting squad of the family of the crops commander, Karachi at Khayaban-e-Mujahid when Silver Toyota No BSZ-011 tried to enter into the squad. When VIP squad of the family informed us we stopped them near Saba Avenue crossing and inquired about their CNIC, which they failed to present.

According to FIR the boys, named Moon and Asad, made a call to Tariq, who sent around 18 armed men and started torturing army personnel.

“They also threatened to kill us. They wounded us and snatched official SMG with two magazine,” according to the complainant, who added that “we immediately went to Jinnah hospital where MLO conduced our medical examination”.

You’re, therefore, requested to lodge an FIR against Tariq Masood Arian and his accomplices for torturing and threatening us besides snatching official weapons, Jan has pleaded in FIR, which was subsequently lodged.
