Practical work on TAPI gas pipeline to start from next year

HERAT: Practical work on Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan and India (TAPI) pipeline would be started in Heart Province of Afghanistan in the next year said by the council of ministers of Turkmenistan while visiting the site area in Heart on Monday.

The delegation of Turkmenistan council of ministers also promised to start some power distribution projects in the province.

The delegation also met the Governor of Herat, Muhammad Asif Rahimi at his office. Leaders of both countries discussed the start on TAPI project and other development projects in the area.

Turkmenistan Ambassador to Kabul, officials of different companies and Afghan Presidential Advisors Dr Qayumi and Sirwais Alaf also attended the meeting.

The delegation said that the TAPI gas pipeline project will left positive impact on the people of the Herat and Afghanistan and adding that it will open doors of development in the area.
Governor Herat expressed satisfaction over the start of practical work on TAPI project in the province.

Afghan President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani, former prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, a high-ranking Indian official and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdi Muhamedow formally inaugurated the TAPI gas pipeline project in Daulatabad area of Turkmenistan on December 13, 2015.
