Rain and Flood: Six died in Mumbai, more rain expected

MUMBAI: As many as six persons including two children were died in the recent heavy seasonal rains which disrupt the every part of the life and destroyed homes and everything in the financial capital of the India on Wednesday.

Trains service in the rain affected areas were slowly resumed and many commuters began walking to work in Mumbai, a city of 20 million people and also home of Indian two largest stock exchange and headquarter of major companies of the country.

Amitesh Kumar, Traffic police official has said police force is trying to clear the roads as several cars and motorcycles were stranded on the roads. Soon the traffic will be in normal situation as we are working efficiently and the rain forecast is also not so bad, he added.

The recent rains and flood reminded the 2005 floods and rains in Mumbai in which more than 500 people were killed and majority of them were living in the slums where half of the city population is living.

In the recent monsoon spell as many as 1200 people were died across India, Bangladesh and Nepal countries.
