Rewaj Act not acceptable: Asfandyar

CHARSADDA: ANP chief, Asfandyar Wali Khan has said that FATA Rewaj Act is against the human rights and not acceptable to them. He expressed these views while talking to a delegation of tribeswomen which called on him in Wali Bagh Charsadda. The founder of the ‘Khur Organization’ Shahida Shah and president of Tribal Women Network ‘ Qabaili Khur) led the delegation.

Those present on the occasion were included Secretary General ANP, Mian Iftikhar Hussain, Imran Afridi, Jamila Gilani and Shagufta Malik.

The delegation briefed Asfandyar Wali Khan regarding problems faced by the tribeswomen said that all tribesmen including women are in favour of the merger of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Asfandyar Wali Khan said that ANP is in favour of the merger of FATA into KP since the very beginning and have always given respect to women. He said that being humans, women enjoy equal rights with men. Therefore, he said ANP has no separate women wing and has given representation to them at all level.

He said that the efforts of ANP for mainstreaming women have resulted in good results. He assured the delegation that ANP will stand by them and will raise voice for their rights on all available forums. Asfandyar called for immediate merger of FATA into KP and abolition of the Frontier Crimes Regulations and also the anti-human rights Rewaj Act. He also called for extension of the jurisdiction of Supreme Court and Peshawar High Court as soon as possible.
