PESHAWAR: The provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday witnessed uproar when Mufti Said Janan of Jamiat Ulemai-e-Islam staged protest in front of the speaker’s dais against not releasing of gas and oil royalty for his constituency.
The opposition benches joined the protest of JUIF MPA forcing Deputy Speaker Mehr Taj Roghani to adjourn the proceeding till Friday.
Mufti Said Janan said that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) led provincial government was reluctant to release oil and gas royalty worth Rs108.5 million for his constituency in district Hangu.
He said the provincial government had released same fund to other members of district Hangu and refused his funds.
He said other PTI member received Rs 930 million but he only got Rs 100 million which was injustice with the people of his constituency, he added.
Mufti Janan said that the concern committee of assembly and Peshawar High Court had given decisions in his favor yet the provincial government was to release funds.
He staged a protest in front of the speaker’s table and said that he would not end his protest until a decision by the chair in his favor.
Munawar Khan of JUIF said that he had been deprived of Rs100 million development funds by the government.
Similarly, the Parliamentary leader of Pakistan Peoples’ Party Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha said he had received only Rs 50 million fund instead of Rs 500 million.
Qurban Ali Khan the dissident member of PTI said that he joined PTI just for justice, but he had given punishment for saying the truth. He said since last two years he had not received a single penny.
The members of whole opposition joined Mufti Said Janan in his protest in front of Speaker’s rostrum.
The opposition shouted and chanted slogans ‘Ro Imran Ro’ and “Zalimo Jawad Do Funds Ka Hisab Do’.
