SC takes notice of conditions of govt hospitals in Karachi

KARACHI: The Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has taken suo moto notice on conditions of Government Hospitals in Karachi and called report from concerned departments with directions to all the Medical Superintendents to appear in Court, it emerged on Monday.

“The Chief Justice of Pakistan Mr. Justice Mian Saqib Nisar has taken suo moto notice on conditions of Government Hospitals in Karachi and called report from concerned departments with directions to all the Medical Superintendents to appear in Court in person on 13.01.2018 (Saturday) at Supreme Court Branch Registry, Karachi along with detailed report as to availability of equipment/emergency machinery/ i.e. ventilators, oxygen, incubators, OTs facility, Angiography Machines, CT Scan, MRI Ambulances, etc. Reports are desired to also explain the position as to availability of life saving drugs and the medicines that are being provided to the patients free of cost and the medicines which they have to purchase from the market,” a handout issued here said.

Chief Justice has further sought the details as to availability of required qualified doctors and nursing staff. All the Medical Superintendents of Government Hospitals are required to be present in-person along with referred detailed reports reflecting the positions of respective hospitals.

Meanwhile Chief Justice of Pakistan has also taken notice of admission in Private Medical Colleges in province of Sindh and called report from concerned authorities with notice for personal appearance including CEOs, owners of private medical colleges in Karachi and has fixed the matter for hearing on 13.01.2018 (Saturday) at Supreme Court Branch Registry, Karachi.
