Seminar on English Language teaching ended

TIMERGARA: The vice chancellor of University of Malakand (UoM) Prof Dr Gul Zaman has said the government should also facilitate students of religious seminaries in order to enable them to play active role in development. He was speaking at a two day international conference on ‘English Language teaching in religious seminaries, problems and challenges’ that concluded at the main campus here on Wednesday. The conference was jointly organized by the Higher Education Commission and English department, UoM. Students of religious seminaries from different areas of Malakand division, faculty members and university students were present on the occasion.

The UoM Dean faculty of arts Prof Dr Atta ur Rehman, principal investigation Dr Qaisar Khan, principal coordinator Dr Arab Naz, Dr Tahir Ali Shah, director academics HEC Dr Safeer Awan, dean faculty of English study NUML Islamabad Dr Muhammad Qasim Baghio and others also addressed the conference.

The vice chancellor Prof Dr Gul Zaman said the event was aimed at mainstreaming religious education by promoting teaching of English language in seminaries. He said that teaching of English at religious seminaries would ensure the production of scientists and scholars in religious educational institutions of the country. He said the government should encourage and facilitate students of religious seminaries so that they could also play due role in country development. The VC said that last week the UoM had signed memorandum of understandings with the varsities of Lahore, Gujrat, Sargoda and University of animal sciences Lahore for arranging joint ventures for knowledge and experience sharing.
