TIANJIN: Maria Sharapova qualify for the semi finals of Tianjin Open on Friday after beating the Swiss player Stefanie Voegele in the qualifier.
The Russian Tennis star easily defeated her opponent by 6-3, 6-1 in 64 minutes and now the former world number one will face China´s Peng Shuai in the semi final of the tournament.
Sharapova returned to the tennis court in April after 15-month gap as she suspended for taking the banned substance meldonium.
In her first tournament back, in Stuttgart, she made it to the semi-finals but has been unable to repeat that feat again, until now.
