Shoaib Shiekh’s acquittal matter: IHC issues notices

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued notices to respondents in plea challenging acquittal orders for Shoaib Shiekh, Chief Executive Axact and others in fake degree case.

A divisioal bench comprising Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Main Gul Hassan Aurangzeb issued notice after hearing preliminary arguments.Raja Rizwan Abbasi counsel to Shoaib Sheikh and Deputy Attorney General appeared before the court on behalf of the federation as petitioner.

DAG informed the bench that Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) engaged Special Prosecutor in the case. Raja Rizwan objected and said that according to a Supreme Court orders a public sector could not appoint special prosecutors in its cases.

The bench remarked that case would be heard following apex court directions you might plead your case during hearing from next date.

The bench also cleared that from next date a day to day hearing will be conducted and while issuing notices to all respondents adjourned further hearing of the case till February 22.

It may be added that Additional Session Judge Perviz Qadir Memon passed the acquittal orders of Shoaib Shiekh CEO Axact and other in fake degree case which was challenged by the federation in IHC.
