Special children torture suspects sent to one-day transitory remand

LAHORE (INP): A local court on Sunday sent two suspects – involved in torturing special children in a bus – on one-day transitory remand.

Police produced the suspects namely Akram and Usman before the Special Judicial Magistrate Naveed Awan in the Model Town Court. The suspects are accused of torturing six-year-old Anees and 13-year-old Saif in a bus.

The suspects’ lawyer pleaded for a bail as he informed the magistrate that the both parties have reached to an understanding. An affidavit by the parents, stating that they have forgiven the suspects, was also submitted.

However, the investigating officer asked the court to grant seven-day physical remand of the suspects.

The judicial magistrate remarked that the suspects could not be granted a bail since they have been booked under the non-bailable sections, whereas the final verdict on the settlement will be declared tomorrow by the relevant judicial magistrate.

It is apropos to highlight here that the accused were booked under sections on child protection and threatening.

Earlier, the duo was arrested by the Ghalib Market police after a torture video went viral on the social media. They accused could be seen physically abusing the children in the school bus.

The victims are students at Gung Mahal School for the Deaf and Dumb, a government institute at Gulberg.
