Students observes second anniversary BKU massacre

CHARSADDA: Students of Bacha Khan University (BKU) observed the second anniversary of the Bacha Khan University massacre, in which militants killed 19 students include staff members, with a somber ceremony at the university by the students on Saturday.

The students of university and workers of ANP arranged the event with the help of themselves to pay tribute to the victims of the carnage. Students and ANP office bearers separately a floral wreath at the monument of BKU martyrs and prayed for the departed souls and Quran Khwani was also arranged.

The students show serious concerns and criticized the provincial government and BKU administration that they have no concerns about the martyrs who give the sacrifice against terrorism and forgot them. They claimed that university administration have gone for tour yesterday and deal the martyrs like the step-mother.

Said Khan Khalil, a spokesperson of BKU, respond to The Frontier Post in a question that why university did not take interest in observing the anniversary? Said that BKU administration decide to commemorate simply the anniversary and for that matter they observed it on Friday softly, “the BKU administration did not any contact with provincial government in this regard”, he added.

Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants had stormed the university on Dec 20, 2016, killing at least 19 people? most of whom were students. The deadliest attack in Pakistan’s history after the APS, the carnage prompted the government to declare an all-out war against terrorist outfits in the country. In the wake of the attack, military courts were set up for trying terrorists under amendments made to the Constitution and the Army Act. The mastermind of the BKU massacre, Umar Mansour, alias Khalifa Mansour, alias Umar Naray, was killed in a drone strike in Afghanistan last year.
