LAHORE: Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal has said troika of failed politicians, retired generals, and TV talk show hosts has been set up against the government who are aspiring for some unconstitutional step in the country.

“Democracy is stable in the country. There is no clash between the institutions. Troika comprising some failed politicians, journalists and retired army men has been established against the government who are aspiring some unconstitutional step in the country by creating chasm between government and army”, he said this while talking to media men here Saturday after addressing a business conference.

He held that sanctity of five years term has been restored in Pakistan. “I am happy Sheikh Rashid is pinning hopes on PML-N. People of South Punjab are loyal. He should stop insulting people of South Punjab”, he added.

Iqbal said that a particular lobby is hell-bent on constructing a narrative to provoke unconstitutional acts in the country “so that they get their jobs back”.

Stability and peace are must for the economy of any country, he said adding no economy can make progress without political stability. CPEC agreement was signed with China and decision to carry out operation was taken only for betterment in national economy, he held.

Loans have been obtained for enhancing production and not for luxuries, he observed. Loan volume is relatively balanced as compared to GDP, he pointed out. We are not going to IMF, he added.

He went on to say that only 16000 megawatt electricity was added in the system during 66 years while the present government has added 10000 megawatt electricity in the system during 4 years.

Responding to a question, Iqbal reiterated that there is no clash between institutions, adding that the election will be held on time in 2018.

CPEC will enter into next phase soon, he held.
