Two killed in road mishaps

HAFIZABAD: A young couple was killed on-the-spot while 12 others were seriously injured in two road mishaps at two different places due to poor visibility owning to thick smog last night.

According to rescue sources, Ihsanullah along with his wife of Gondalanwala was on way to Gujranwala on his bike and when he reached near Dharanwali village, a dumper coming from opposite direction hit his bike as result of which the couple died before any medical aid could be made available to them.

The dead bodies have been shifted to DHQ morgue for legal formalities. The police have arrested the dumper driver and registered a case against him accordingly.

According to another report, 12 persons including two women were seriously injured when a car and a van collided head-on on Khanqah Dogran road near Muttam village last night. The injured were shifted to the local hospital.

According to police source, Bilal Ahmad along with his family members of Mughalpura Hafizabad was on way to Hafizabad on his car No. LWM-04322 and when he reached near Muttam village, a speeding van driven by Rizwan son of Mansoor coming from opposite direction dashed against the car, as a result of which both the vehicles turned turtle.

The accident was too dreadful but luckily there was no fatality. However, 12 injured were shifted to the local hospital where condition of two of them is causing concern.
