Two Pakistani sisters reach home after spending 11 years in Indian prison

LAHORE: Two Pakistani sisters reached Wagah border Thursday after 11 years when they were freed by the Indian authorities from prison as they were arrested by Indian police in smuggling case.

The sister’s family reached the Wagah border to receive them and one of the sisters’ daughter was also with them who was born in the Indian jail.

As per the report, the two Pakistani sisters identified as Fatima and Mumtaz, and their mother Rasheedan Bibi went to India via Samjhota Express in 2006 to meet their relatives there and they were arrested over charges of smuggling drugs.

Later they were Amritsar prison; where the mother of two sisters died after two years and Fatima, who was pregnant at the time of the arrest, give birth to a baby girl in the jail. And now the name Hina is 10 years old and was also been sent back with them.

The Indian authorities sentenced the women to 10 and half years and fined Rs 200,000 each but they were unable to pay the fine as their punishment were over, however a non-government working in India filled pay the fine and the freed them from Indian prison.
