Women protest against SNGPL operation in Karak

KARAK: The women of old bazaar organized a protest demonstration against the operation of the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) which was carried out action against the illegal gas connections in Karak city and blocked the Karak-Sabirabad road for several hours against it here on Monday.

On the direction of Deputy Commissioner, Shafiullah Khan the assistant commissioner Karak launched operation with the personnel of SNGPL against the illegal gas connection the women of old bazaar started protest and they blocked the Karak-Sabirabad road for all kinds of traffic.

They demanded that the gas pressure was already very low in winter season and in this weather the disconnection of gas connections was tantamount to cruelty. They claimed that the SNGPL was not providing legal gas connections to the consumers and they were forced to get the gas facility through illegal way. They demanded that the company should provide legal gas connections to the consumers then they should carry out operation against the illegal gas connections.

They resolved until they were not given legal gas connections they would not let the company to disconnect it. Later the police negotiated with the protestors by suspending the operation and the protestors opened the road for traffic.
