11 students, 12 passengers injured in Dir mishaps

TIMERGARA: Eleven students of grade 8th and 9th were injured when a portion of a private school at Namsair collapsed during construction work in the jurisdiction of Khall police station here on Thursday, residents and police said. They said the injured students were brought to RHC Khall while two of them were referred to district head quarter hospital Timergara for treatment. Some of the students according to hospital sources have bone fractures.

Residents said that construction work on second storey of the school was in progress when roof of two class rooms caved in. Taking notice of the matter the Lower Dir deputy commissioner Saadat Hassan directed the district education officer Ghulam Nabi Khan to conduct a proper inquiry of the matter. The assistant commissioner Shah Jamil visited the DHQ hospital and inquired about the condition of the students. The AC directed the hospital management to provide the best medical care to the students. He said the administration would properly investigate the matter and would take action against the school management if found negligent.

Meanwhile 12 people including children were injured when two passenger coaches coming from opposite sides collided near Khungi in the jurisdiction of Timergara police station. One of the coaches No C-8644 was coming to Timergara from Swat while the other was bound for Peshawar.

The injured most of them from Upper Dir were rushed to DHQ hospital Timergara. They were identified as Hazrat Jan 26 of Sharingal, Said Nawab 34 of Wari, Ashfaq 25 of Nehag Darra, Hilal 13 of Nehag, Bilal 25 of Nehag, wife of Ikramullah 25 of Khall, daughter of Ikramullah 6, Shahida 45 of Khall, Irshad 26 of Kat Pat, wife of Sher Muhammad 43 of Jagam, Bilal 27 of Wari and Sher Zamin 27 of Munda. The Timergara police registered a case and started investigation.
