13 more children die of pneumonia in Punjab

LAHORE (INP): Pneumonia claimed the lives of 13 more children in various districts of Punjab in 24 hours, health department report said on Sunday.

According to the report, dry cold weather has resulted in surge in pneumonia cases and 622 more cases patients were detected in a single day.

In Lahore, 131 patients were diagnosed with pneumonia in which one child died.

The report further stated that the total number of pneumonia cases in Lahore was 6190, while in Punjab, more than 28809 cases have been reported, while the total number of children who died of pneumonia has climbed to 392.

Medical experts say that children under the age of two years were at the highest risk of pneumonia. They urged the citizens to protect children from the deadly disease by following precautions in urban dry winter.
