15 Public welfare projects completed in Kunar

KUNAR (TOLONews): In Kunar province, 15 different public welfare projects have been completed and handed over for use at a cost of 45 million Afghanis.

In the Barikot area of Narai district, with financial assistance from a supporting organization, a ceremony was held to inaugurate and hand over a retaining wall built to protect agricultural lands.

Officials say that in the past year, projects aimed at increasing groundwater levels, constructing check dams, and building retaining walls have been completed and handed over in 15 districts of Kunar.

Dust Mohammad Hanafi, Director of Water and Energy in Kunar, said: “Last year, we implemented such projects in about 15 districts, including the center. All of them have been completed and handed over. Two more projects remain, which will be inaugurated in the coming days.”

Aminullah Shahab, the district governor of Narai, said: “With the implementation of this project, protection has been provided for the village, houses, agricultural lands, and roads.”

Ismatullah Andalib, a representative of the Kunar governor’s office, said: “We hope more services will be delivered to people so that solutions can be found for those facing similar challenges in the future.”

Meanwhile, several Kunar residents expressed satisfaction with these projects but urged the caretaker government and aid organizations to implement more public welfare projects in the province.

A tribal elder from Kunar, Malik Sherzamin, said: “This project benefits the people. We suggest that all the agricultural lands in the Barikot area that are under threat should be given attention, and authorities should take necessary steps to protect them.”

Sifatullah Safi, a representative of the implementing company, added: “This project has been completed according to the plan, and all public demands have been taken into account.”

These various public projects are being handed over at a time when just a few days ago, a solar irrigation network worth 5.6 million Afghanis was also completed in Nari district of the province.
