KABUL: The Afghan and coalition forces conducted joint operations against Taliban militants in Farah province.
The provincial police headquarters of Farah in a statement said Tuesday that the security forces conducted the operation in the outskirts of the capital of Farah.
The statement further added that the security forces killed 12 Taliban militants and wounded 4 others.
A coalition airstrike also destroyed a vehicle packed with explosives, weapons and munitions, the statement added. The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the operation.
This comes as the security situation in some districts of Farah province has deteriorated during the recent years.
Taliban militants are active in districts of the province where they often conduct terrorist related activities.
In the meantime, the Afghan forces are busy conducting counter-terrorism operations against the anti-government armed groups in this province.
The US forces also conduct regular airstrikes in restive parts of the country to suppress Taliban and other anti-government militants. (Khaama Press)
