KABUL: Security forces killed 17 Islamic State-Khorasan (IS-K) or Daesh fighters in the Haska Maina district of Nangarhar province, officials said Monday.
Six IS-K’s bases, nine tunnels and numerous weapons were also destroyed in artillery attacks in the Gorgorai area of Haska Maina over the past 24 hours, Attaullah Khugyani, spokesman of Nangarhar governor, told AIP.
Afghan defense ministry confirmed the death of 17 IS-K fighters.
Besides killing 17 IS-K fighters in Nangarhar, the security forces also killed 55 more anti-government gunmen and wounded 22 others during operations conducted in 15 provinces, the Afghan defense ministry said in a statement.
It said several Taliban commanders were among the dead. Taliban and Daesh not said anything this regard.
