KABUL: The Afghan Special Forces conducted an operation in southern Uruzgan province of Afghanistan killing at least 12 fighters.
The Afghan Special Forces conducted the operation in chorah district of the province, the military sources said Monday.
The sources further added that the Special Forces conducted the operation to disrupt Taliban operations in the district.
Furthermore, the security forces conducted an airstrike in Mizan district of Zabul province killing 4 Taliban fighters.
The security forces also conducted an airstrike in Shah Joy district of Zabul province killing 1 Taliban fighter, the sources added.
The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the airstrike so far.
Both Uruzgan and Zabul are among the relatively volatile provinces in South of Afghanistan.
Taliban militants are active in some restive districts of both Uruzgan and Zabul province.
The anti-government armed elements often attempt to conduct terrorist related activities in the restive districts of the two provinces.
Meanwhile, the Afghan forces are busy conducting counter-terrorism operations against both groups in this province.
The US forces also conduct regular airstrikes in restive districts of Uruzgan and Zabul to suppress Taliban and other anti-government militants.(Khaama Press)
