2-day training organized by PID, PIC kicks-off

PESHAWAR: A two-days training organized by Press Information Department and Pakistan Information Center for journalists on Digital Media Reporting and Authentication kicks-off at Peshawar, on Tuesday.

Deputy Director Press Information Department (PID) Romina Asad Khan welcomed participants and briefed journalists on importance of training in the digital age. She added that it is second of phase of training organized collectively by PID and Pakistan Information Center (PIC).

PID’s Deputy Director claimed that trainings playing crucial and pivotal role in development professionalism across the board. She added that digital media is playing important role in the era of information technology because most of educated youth is engaged on social media platforms.

Senior journalist Muhammad Fahim throws light on digital media platforms and argued journalists to utilized social media for obtaining finances. He claimed that viewers are regulators on social media platforms unlikely other communication mediums which is regulated by laws. He argued media personnel to focus on culture, sports, tourism and social segments on digital media because it is neglected by top brass of journalist’s community.

Assistant Professor Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at University of Peshawar Ali Imran claimed that digitization has leading to multiple-identity of media personnel. He claimed that information propagated by journalists perceived as factual by audience.

Assistant Professor Ali Imran said Social Media platforms owned by handler neither by organization especially in case of journalist community while facing multiple-identity at same time and space.

Moreover, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has initiated training programs at Islamabad, Gilgit Baltistan, Peshawar, Quetta, Karachi, Lahore and Azad Kashmir through its regional PID offices and Pakistan Information Center, which will further strengthen the professional skills of journalists.
